The NESS SEA (STEM Education Ambassador) AmeriCorps program uses national service to engage students in STEM-based ocean adventure learning. New England Science & Sailing SEA AmeriCorps members serve to provide students with additional support, mentoring, and tutoring during the academic school day. They also design and implement STEM-based, extended learning and summer programs utilizing marine science, adventure sports, and sailing as the educational platform.

The New England Science & Sailing Foundation will have 10 AmeriCorps members who will provide STEM-based programs, classroom and field support, and social-emotional learning support to students in grades K through 12 in Connecticut with a primary focus in New London, Windham, and Middlesex counties. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for students' improved academic engagement and social-emotional skills growth. The AmeriCorps investment will be matched with $108,000 in local funding.
