Kate Scheuritzel

Kate Scheuritzel is the Director of Programs for Serve Connecticut. In her role for ten years, Kate provides leadership in national service program development and oversight as well as in other commission initiatives related to service and volunteerism. Kate designs and delivers training and technical assistance in a variety of modes to AmeriCorps funding applicants, AmeriCorps Connecticut programs, community stakeholders, and peers across the country in the national service and state/territorial service commission network.

Prior to her work with Serve Connecticut, Kate began her career in national service as a supervisor of two AmeriCorps VISTA projects and an AmeriCorps Connecticut Public Ally at a community action agency in northeastern Connecticut. Kate currently serves on the Executive Committee of the America’s Service Commissions (ASC) Board of Directors and was awarded the ASC Outstanding Commission Staff Award in 2022.

Kate really enjoys working with our funding applicants and planning grant recipients. It is gratifying for her to help orient local organizations, agencies, and collaboratives to AmeriCorps and see how they adapt what they’ve learned to apply a national service strategy to their unique community interventions. It is always exciting for Kate to see an AmeriCorps program proposal emerge from this training and technical assistance process.

Outside of work, Kate loves to hike, travel, cook, garden, decorate, and spend time with her husband, their family, and dogs.
