Jumpstart is a national early education organization working toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. We provide language, literacy, and social-emotional programming for preschool children from under-resourced communities and promote quality early learning for all children. Since 1993, we’ve trained more than 58,000 college students and community volunteers to transform the lives of over 133,000 preschool children nationwide.

Grant Deliverables: Jumpstart proposes to have 184 AmeriCorps members who will deliver its evidence-based early education program to 399 children in Manchester, New Britain, New Haven, Storrs, Vernon, and Willimantic, Connecticut. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for increasing the preparedness for kindergarten of 259 preschool- aged children from low-income communities by implementing a curriculum designed to improve key language, literacy, and social-emotional skills. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional 105 leveraged volunteers who will be engaged in service projects that benefit preschool children and their families in the same communities.

Grantee Organization: Jumpstart for Young Children, Inc.
